From live performances to ambient music, the Cosmos takes after it its name, allowing you to explore a whole new galaxy of soundscapes. The fluid and evolving nature of the Soma Cosmos makes it one of the most cutting-edge, loop-based units on the market. Unlike conventional loopers, the Drifting Memory Station allows you layer and process a range of sounds. The result is an almost self-aware looping station, providing constant shifts in tone via vocals and instruments.
The highly intuitive layout makes the Cosmos perfect for any skillset. From beginners to professionals, the unit provides everything you need to experiment and create new soundscapes. The functions and controls have been carefully selected so you can keep the focus on the music, allowing you to switch between your instrument in seconds – perfect for live performances.
There are a wide range of controls and modulation options on offer, providing the means to sculpt and shape your sound as you create. A high-pass and low-pass filter are both included with dedicated switches. There is also a reverse button so you can further experiment with the orientation of your loops.
You can modulate your sounds using the Blur, Drift, Drive, Suppressor/Compressor, Feedback and Mix parameters. Each of these parameters can be used to change the tonality and shape of your overall sound, perfect for sound design. The large dial in the middle of the unit allows you to switch between algorithms so you can utilise delay, reverb and granular processing parameters.
As well as the standard stereo I/O, the Soma Cosmos features a powerful 1/4-inch headphone output which you can use to listen and monitor in private. Not only that, but you can also access upgrades to the firmware using the integrated flash drive connection. From here, you can store upgrades on a thumb drive and install them directly onto the Cosmos Drifting Memory Station.
* Use only the power supply supplied with the device! In case of failure, it can be replaced with a high-quality modern switched-mode power supply with an output voltage of DC 12 volts, the center is plus and an output current of at least 0.5 amperes (more is fine). The power supply must have a wide AC input voltage range of 100-240 volts. Such power supplies have excellent output voltage stabilization required for the device. It is forbidden to use COSMOS with nonstabilized voltage from transformer power supplies. It can lead to damage to the device, which is not covered by the warranty repair!
