Designed in collaboration with Frank Iero of My Chemical Romance, the Wilshire Phant-O-Matic offers VariTone, with which adjust your tone with a six-way rotary switch, in combination with the the three-way pickup switch. View Full DescriptionThis Wilshire Phant-o-matic Electric Guitar Outfit boasts an Antique Ivory finish. This guitar was designed in collaboration with Frank Iero, guitarist for multi-platinum band, My Chemical Romance.
Mahogany Body, Mahogany Neck
This guitar has a double cutaway design with a solid mahogany body. The mahogany hand-set neck has a 1960s SlimTaper™ profile and on top is the rosewood fingerboard. This is a great guitar for chunking rhythm or cutting leads.
Alnico Classic Humbucker Pickups
Imagine having the possibility of creating dozens of guitar sounds from one guitar. The Phant-o-matic is equipped with two classic Epiphone humbucker pickups, an Alnico Classic Plus™ humbucker in the bridge position and an Alnico Classic™ humbucker in the neck position. Also included is a mono VariTone™, much like the one used most famously by blues legend B.B. King.
Epiphone VariTone Possiblities
Epiphone VariTone™ uses a six-way rotary switch which engages 5 pre-set notch filters and a bypass. In position one, the VariTone™ is completely bypassed. Positions 2 - 6, the center frequency of the notch filter shifts from around 1.9kHz down to 130Hz, giving the player a wide tonal palette to explore. Positions 2 through 4 allow for tonal shaping, while still keeping great clarity. Then go to positions 5 and 6 to shape-shift the Alnico Classic™ humbuckers into a single-coil style pickup but without the thin quack that's often associated with traditional single coil pickups. With 6 positions to experiment with, along with the guitar's 3-position toggle switch, that's 18 unique tones, and that's just from the guitar itself!
Furthermore, the guitar also features a high quality horn-mounted KillSwitch™, providing an infinite range of staccato on/off effects. You can adjust the master volume control easily, which is mounted with easy access to the VariTone™ rotary switch.
Also, get tuning and intonation accuracy with the LockTone™ Tune-o-Matic™ StopBar bridge.
