The S2 Standard Singlecut Guitar features a stylish satin nitro finish, keeping the guitar lightweight while providing a stunning look. Satin provides a matte texture which is ideal for gigging guitarists as it won’t glare under stage lighting, and looks good on photographs compared to high-gloss. Standard PRS models all feature a high-gloss finish of approximately 9-10mm thick, however the S2 Standard Singlecut has a 1mm thickness of satin and is more affordable, and comfortable. In addition, this type of finish offers a more resonant guitar with warm and crisp tones.
Constructed from a mahogany body and neck with a set-in design, the S2 Singlecut Standard offers a warm and resonant tone with plenty of depth and grind. Mahogany is a medium to heavy wood, creating a strong and sturdy design that will stand up to the gigging musicians lifestyle. The neck’s set-in construction delivers an advanced sustain, as the increased contact between the neck and body allows vibrations to transfers easily between the neck heel and body.
Equipped with two powerful #7 pickups, the S2 Standard Singlecut offers a classic rock vibe with plenty of cut and sustain to create incredible solos and licks. Both pickups provide a thick tone while remaining full and articulate for a strong midrange and warm characteristics. In the neck position, the #7 pickup provides a more focused midrange than the bridge, perfect for creating classic rock chords and riffs.
Incorporating a push/pull coil tap control on the tone pot, the PRS guitar can produce a range of sounds and tones perfect for versatile guitarists. Simply push/pull the tone control to switch the pickup between crisp single-coil sounds and strong, punchy humbucker tones. The 3-way pickup selector is used to create amazing tones for a range of music styles.
Launched in 1985 by Paul Reed Smith, PRS guitars offer an alternative approach to achieving excellence. Their unique approach to the design and build of their guitars has found them a distinct sound that has become a hallmark for hard rock. The slightly wider necks are ideal for technical guitarists who require space while scaling the fretboard. As well as exceptional tone, PRS’ guitars have become famed for their stunningly intricate finishes. The bird inlays, distinctive colours and signature headstocks have inspired guitarists globally since their first production. The selection of ranges offer something to every style and budget. For guitarists looking for reliable and long lasting tone, PRS is an ideal choice.
