Times change. As Metallica's sound has progressed through their glittering career, so has Kirk Hammett's approach to guitar tone. His signature EMG humbucker set, dubbed 'Bonebreaker', is the result, bringing together the expected, head-splitting distortion sound with a more mature edge that takes full advantage of the KH-3's natural, singing tone.
The BB-B bridge model features a ceramic magnet, and delivers crushing distorted tones with a bold, in-your-face midrange, perfect for chunky chugs and chords with crunch. Meanwhile the BB-N neck unit's Alnico-5 construction offers silky-smooth soloing and dazzling clean tones, dripping with character. A fully stocked arsenal that's ideal for metal of any style.
Living history. In 1991, when Kirk Hammett asked ESP to design him a single-cut version of his iconic KH-2 guitar, he knew it needed a paint job to match. Metallica's graphic designer, Pushead, stepped up and the result was the KH-3's instantly recognisable Spider graphic. The LTD KH-3 features a faithful recreation of that famous design, right down to its matching spider and skull 'n' crossbones fret inlays. Now you can take home the look of Hammett's inspiring '90s performances, most famously showcased on 'Tallica's 1998 live video, Cunning Stunts.
Built for tone. ESP crafted the LTD KH-3 with materials chosen specifically for their top-notch tone. Its industry standard, basswood body is the ideal starting point for a well-rounded metal tone. Meanwhile, macassar ebony fretboard provides a snappy, clear sound with precise note definition, perfect for blistering solos and fast-paced fretting. Finally, a three-piece maple neck ensures top notch tuning stability, and with an extra-thin 'U' shape, you'll be racing up and down the frets with ease
