Key Features
The Old Blood Noise Endeavors Excess V2 Distorting Modulator Pedal is a powerful series of effects that takes its inspiration from the '80s. Featuring full throttle, no holds barred distortion and an array of modulation to apply, you've got a world of sonic potency at your feet.
The modulation takes the form of chorus, delay and pitch shifted delays each with their own footswitch. It's up to you how you combine these with the distortion, as you have the option of running them in series or parallel, each creating wildly different soundscapes. Once you've landed on a setting that you particularly enjoy, you can attach an expression pedal to control the rate and depth of the modulation making sure the Excess V2 always hits the right notes. Push the boundaries of tone and revel in the Excess V2's sonic hedonism.

One half of the Excess V2 is its more than capable distortion effect. While the focus of this pedal is on combining this distortion with the modulation, it still presents a mean amount of fuzz all on its own. Controllable through the tone and gain knobs you can dial in just the right amount of drive before applying any modulation. These knobs will take your tone from a light bluesy fuzz, to full on dirty crunch that would make metal bands blush.
This is where the fun begins. Three distinct modulation effects give you the flexibility to plumb new textural depths.
Fifth is a harmonized delay that adds a pitch shift up a perfect fifth, excellent for adding a new dynamic onto solos or riffs. Chorus brings the familiar swirling, thick sound that’s instantly recognisable. Delay adds a short delay (125ms) that’s focused on comb filter, doubling and slapback sounds. These are all controllable from three dials, modulation volume, rate and depth, giving you the same amount of fine control as the distortion. With a wide array of effect and precision adjustment, it’s easy to achieve the sonics you desire.
It’s got distortion, it’s three adjustable modulation modes, but where the real magic happens is how you route those effects together to create new colours of sound. The Old Blood Endeavours Excess V2 offers three routing methods for you to experiment with.
Mod 1st runs modulation into distortion resulting in a wild, feral yet harmonically rich sound. Push it even further to get reveal some unhinged textures.
Parallel runs both your effects side by side, awarding a natural volume boost as both signals are added together. You’ll get a modulated clean tone and distorted track emitted simultaneously and is easy to blend to your liking by adjusting the two volume knobs.
Dist 1st runs distortion into modulation and is the classic mode that the Excess is known for. Offering articulated modulation onto the menacing, fuzzy diction you can enjoy spicy pitch shifted delays, and thick, shimmering chorus flows.
Ultimate creativity. Old Blood Noise Endeavours give you another method of controlling the rate and depth of your modulation with an expression pedal input. This puts tone at your toes as you adjust the level with your foot. Explore, inspire and evoke a new dimension of sounds, the Excess V2 is the shot of tonal tonic your music needs.
