About Sameer Gupta
Sameer Gupta stands out as a unique percussionist who skillfully bridges the worlds of American jazz and Indian classical music, playing both the drumset and tabla. His talent has taken him to prestigious venues such as Lincoln Center Performing Arts Center in New York City, Birla Auditorium in Kolkata, Townhall in Seattle, SFJAZZ, Nehru Centre in London, NYC MoMA, and Yerba Buena Gardens in San Francisco.
Gupta honed his jazz skills in the vibrant music scenes of San Francisco, Oakland, Harlem, and Brooklyn, drawing inspiration from his peers and his passion for tabla. This led him to co-found the Brooklyn Raga Massive, a non-profit collective dedicated to Indian classical music. Residing in Brooklyn, New York, Gupta is deeply engaged in the music community, not only performing but also curating, producing, and teaching. He plays a significant role in several initiatives, including the Outside (In)dia Series by India Center Foundation, Brooklyn Raga Massive, Carnegie Hall's Global Encounters, and the Ragas Live Festival.
